Welcome to the new look!

The Fourth Trimester has ended last week. Evelyn is becoming such an amazing little person. She has not rolled over again; I think she realized that was a bad idea! (She does not like Tummy Time.) Here are a couple of home movies of her during Tummy Time, most of the crying edited out.

She is really starting to use her forearms to help push herself off the ground. It is amazing to watch her learn and get stronger! I can see her mind working and taking it all in.

She had her hip ultrasound follow up last week. Everything went very well! She does not need a harness or another follow up. I am so glad I did some research to find a doctor who would do the ultrasound at a reasonable price. I am floored how doctors think parents would do absolutely anything for their kids at any cost- and not even offer to review the cost. EV's first ultrasound cost about $1K. Her follow-up ultrasound, to check the exact same thing, cost $300. Ugh! Getting off my soap box... looking at cute baby pictures... ahh...

I am adjusting to being a Mom. Still trying to figure out who the new "me" is. There are a lot of social pressures and stigmas around what you "do", and being a stay at home Mom is not a good stereotype. I knew this getting into parenthood, but don't really know the answer. I love the encouragement I get from other women.

As for my relationship with Evelyn, I feel amazing! At first I felt like a stranger to her, and I was not sure what to do with her. Now I feel confident that I know what she needs and how to sooth her. It is also really fun playing and singing with her. She is so expressive and happy!

Our favorite activity is singing "Old McDonald", who by the way still has his farm. He didn't get hit too hard by the recession. The other day I sang for her whole 15 minute Tummy Time. Try to think of enough animals and their sounds to fill 15 minutes!! I think there was a robot... :)

I just got a book from the library with a ton of activities to do with a baby. I can't wait to try them out!

I have not been successful in filming Evelyn "talk". She will sit there for long stretches of time and just make all sorts o sounds! I will have little conversations with her by repeating her sounds back to her. I think she thinks it's really cool Mommy is saying the same thing. Big smiles from her! And lots of thinking of what to say next!

These are a little dark, but I hope you can still see her.

I have been afraid to walk into a fabric store because I have so many baby sewing projects in mind!! I want to make her a world traveler themed mobile for her crib, a few more burp clothes, and knit some big blocks with leftover yarn. I will post anything I make.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

We had a great time with Roger and the boys and Mike and Diane. Nate made a big pot of chili and we played Monopoly. Evelyn sat in her rocking chair and "bounced off the wall"!

  1. Thanks for the videos! The answer to the mom question is to ignore what other people think and do what is right for you and your family. Hang tough, no matter what you decide.

I can't wait to hold her squirmy little self next month!
