Mid July

Evelyn changes and grows so quickly, I thought I would go ahead and post the pictures from this month so far. Evelyn is learning her body parts and her numbers right now. We go to the library once a week to get a few educational books.

Here is a picture of her "oooh"-ing at the garbage trucks. This is one of her highlights of the week.

Evelyn and I did an at-home pedicure! I love our pink toes!

For the past few Tuesdays we have been going to these outside kids' concerts. We meet up with Nate's mom and walk down to the show.

Afterwards, we walk to a conveyor belt sushi restaurant. Here is Evelyn enjoying her lunch.

We went to the parade in Kirkland for the Fourth of July.

We went to a great cookout at Mike and Diane's house. Here is Evelyn hanging out with her second cousin, Maddie.

How does she know this is a phone??

Learning numbers with Daddy.

But more importantly, learning chess with Daddy!

Getting dressed up for church!

Evelyn Stories

I wanted to share two really cute Evelyn stories that happened yesterday. First, Shoes.

I was packing up a couple bags to get ready for the gym. We were going straight to the park afterwards, so I had more than usual to pack. Evelyn was watching me. She came over to hold my hand, and we walked around the house gathering items to pack. When it was all ready, I said to her, "I will be right back. I'm going to put this in the car. I'll be right back!". Surprisingly there was no fuss as the door shut between us. I got the car packed and returned inside to find Evelyn waiting for me WITH HER SHOES ON!! What?! She got matching shoes out of the bench where they are stored and put them on the correct feet. Incredible!

Next, Plumber.

Later in the day, I had a plumber come over to give me an estimate. Evelyn has seen me do a lot of contractor interviews, so, I guess, she wanted to do this one. After talking for a minute with the man, he stuck his head under sink to have a look around. There goes Evelyn under the sink with him. Looking, talking, asking questions! The guy did a great job staying focused and Evelyn did a great job staying out of his way. Then, the guy asks Evelyn a question and she gets super shy! Too cute. The shyness wore off quickly because she was talking to him all the way out the door!

May and June

So much happens every day with baby girl - she is growing and getting smarter by the minute! She is now 1 1/2 years old and has just passed her first anniversary of her baptism.

Her words now include: no, why?, bye bye, hi, hot, gone gone, and me (as in "give it to me!").

She is working on "light", but is having trouble with the L.

She tells Olivia "out" and "shhh".

She really is starting to want to do somethings on her own. Right now, that thing is putting on shoes. She loves to put on her own shoes and any other shoes she can find. I can't wait until she starts doing this when we are getting ready to leave the house!  :)

We are trying to get out to the playground once a day to get her some exercise. After rainy days she wakes up in the middle of the night - wide awake!

She got this wooden toy on Mother's Day. It has pieces of fruit that are held together with velcro. It also has a wooden knife for her to "cut" the fruit. She loves to cut it and put it back together, over and over.

She is also letting me tie her hair back in all sorts of cute hairstyles. This is a really good thing since her hair is so long now.

Evelyn and I went to Georgia to visit my parents. Other than the terrible adventure getting there (flight delays and rescheduling), we had a fantastic trip!

Thank you to the Hemby's for the animal sound book! She loves it! (See video below!)

Evelyn wants to copy us all the time! This is very evident at the dinner table. She was not happy about her corn being cut off while Nate and I got to eat it off the cob. She did a very good job cleaning off what we left behind!

Here is our little trooper after many hours at the cell phone store. First picture with my first smart phone!

As a pat of a christmas present, we watched Evelyn's uncles for an after noon. We had a cook out at the house, then went to the park to fly kites and check out the new playground.

Here she is trying out the big girl swing!

She figured out that dropping rocks into the creek makes a cool sound! Plus she got to play with rocks!

When Evelyn was not very interested in her snack, I made this ode to Ursus Wehril.

I am so happy I found a board-book copy of Harry the Dirty Dog! She seems to really like it too, particularly the pictures!

On Father's Day weekend, we wen to the EMP Museum in downtown Seattle. It is a museum for rock and roll and sci-fy. Very cool!

Evelyn is the funniest person I know! Here she is with hot pads on both hands (she opens the drawer to get them out and she puts them on herself!) carrying her sippy cup. She performed this task with such focus and determination!

Her are a few pictures from today: playing on the floor and going to the park.

More corn pictures. The fork was a nice touch. This time she got her own cob.

The three of us and Nate's mom went away for the weekend to the Olympic Peninsula. It was so much fun!

 Port Townsend

These ducks were very used to people! They were following us!

Lake Crescent

Grab some popcorn - here are some movies!

This one is the BEST!!
